Program Description

The Design and Construction of Pile Foundations course encompasses key modules: Introduction to Pile Foundation, Design and Construction for Bored Cast In-Situ (BCIS) in Soil and Rock, Design and Construction of Driven Cast In-Situ (DCIS) Piles, Design and Construction of Precast Piles, and Pile Group Efficiency, Settlement & Testing. Participants explore foundational principles of pile foundation design, focusing on BCIS and DCIS techniques in various soil and rock conditions. The course delves into precast pile methodologies, analyzing pile group efficiency, settlement factors, and testing methodologies, equipping learners with comprehensive skills for effective pile foundation design and construction practices.

Course Objectives

  • The course aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of pile foundation design and construction techniques, covering topics such as the design basis, selection criteria, and general terminologies associated with various types of piles including BCIS (Bored Cast-In-Situ) piles, DCIS (Driven Cast-In-Situ) piles, precast driven piles, and precast piles in prebored holes.
  • Learners will be introduced to the design and construction procedures of different types of piles in both soil and rock, including considerations for vertical, lateral, and uplift capacities, as well as load testing methodologies.
  • Additionally, the course will address quality assurance/control measures, safety protocols, and challenges encountered during piling execution, equipping participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to address real-world construction scenarios effectively.
