Program Description

This Course is a comprehensive program designed to equip learners with a thorough understanding of formwork systems and their importance in construction. It includes benefits of formwork design loads, formwork design, design assumptions, and methods for determining concrete pressure exerted on formwork. Additionally, the course covers fundamental codal requirements for formwork design. A comprehensive overview of slab design and vertical formwork including necessary design checks to ensure the safety of formwork systems is provided in the course. The course imparts in-depth of preparation of formwork drawings, basic requirements for formwork detailing, and insights into detailed drawings. Learners will learn about BOQ calculation using scheme drawings and graphical views of formwork using BIM 3D. The course explores overall formwork costs for a project, including material, labor, and plant & machinery costs and formwork cost optimization. Thus, this course blends theoretical knowledge with practical applications, ensuring that learners are well-prepared to tackle various challenges in formwork design and implementation.

Course Objectives

  • Understand the fundamentals of formwork design
  • Acquire proficiency in design vertical and horizontal formwork applications and conducting design checks to ensure safety and stability in real-world construction scenarios.
  • Develop skills in preparing formwork drawings, BOQ calculations, and graphical representations using BIM 3D models
  • Estimate formwork cost which includes material, labor, and plant & machinery expenses and optimization for informed decision-making and efficient resource utilization
